Here are a few things you might want to do:

  • Count ALL users.
  • Count new sign ups per month.
  • Count users who signed up last month.
  • Count users by some characteristic (e.g. per country).

And lots more.

I'll take you through some of these in this article, to give you an idea of the various ways you can summarise your users in Trevor.

Get started

Head over to your users table.

(1) Count all users

  1. Click the calculate button.
  2. In the calculation(s) section, click the plus icon.
  3. The first option will either be count(name_of_table) or simply row count. If the former is available, select that. Otherwise, the latter should be fine (assuming each row represents a unique customer).
  4. Click done

(2) Count new sign ups per month

This assumes you have a sign up date (it may be called created_at, or something similar).

  1. Follow steps 1-3 in the count all users method above.
  2. Click the plus icon in the group by section (in the bottom left of the calculate modal).
  3. You'll see a list of the columns in your users tables.
  4. Select the one that represents the date a user signed up.
  5. In the dropdown that appears, select month (you can also select day, week, or year).
  6. Click done.

(3) Count users by some or multiple characteristics

  1. Follow steps 1-3 in the count all users method above.
  2. Click the plus icon in the group by section (in the bottom left of the calculate modal).
  3. You'll see a list of the columns in your users tables.
  4. Select the ones you're interested in. Trevor will count your users and break the results down by the columns you've selected.
  5. Click done.

E.g. Count customers by sign up week by country
