Here are two best practices you can employ to builder faster-running queries. 

(1) Add your filters as early as possible

In general, it's best to add filters early on i.e. before you do any aggregations. This way, aggregations in later steps will be performed on fewer rows.

(2) When filtering on dates, use the default option (e.g. days or datetime)

Let's say the default option in the filter modal is days. If you filter by year = 2018 (i.e. changing day to year), then every date in the table will need to be reformatted.

Instead, it would be better to do: day > 31/12/2017 AND day < 1/1/2019.
