Here are a couple of things you can do to make your queries run faster:
(1) Perform filter steps as early as possible
Certainly try to add your filter steps before summarize steps (unless, of course, you're filtering the results of the summarize step).
(2) Apply a filter on the date range while building the query
E.g. just look at data from the last 3 months (at least while you're building the query - you can disable this step once you're done if you need the full results).
If your query is still taking a while to run, try saving it and coming back later (it will run in the background) or click download - Trevor will send you the results by email once they're ready.
And here are a couple of things your database admin can do:
(1) Add indexes to relevant columns
(2) Give your database more memory
